While blogging was once a way for people to ramble off their opinions at will and share journals with the world, today it is a viable way to turn your passions, ideas and personality into a career you enjoy.

A lot of you email me asking for help on starting your a successful travel blog, one that allows you to pursue your dreams and follow your fascinations in an unconventional way. Along with my one-on-one blog consulting, I will be offering a 10-week professional blogging course beginning September 29, 2014, in conjunction with Writers.com, a top resource for online literary classes since 1995. What’s really great about the course is you can do it on your own time. While there will be a class each week, you can do the readings and exercises and digest the information when it’s convenient for you, and I’ll be on hand to answer any questions you may have along the way.

This class — called From Setup To Salary: How To Create A Blog That Makes Money — is designed for aspiring and beginner bloggers as well as hobby bloggers looking to turn their websites into careers. During this 10-week course, you’ll learn how to create a professional blog from the ground up, starting with choosing a platform, creating a brand and crafting a business plan and going all the way into the different ways you can make money with your website. During the course, you’ll also learn about Search Engine Optimization (SEO), freelance writing, finding your voice, social media for business, driving traffic to your site, working with brands, designing and content plan and much more. Moreover, the homework for the class will not only teach you how to create a website that generates income, but will also provide unique content and tools for your growing website.

No books are required for class. Each week the teacher will provide multiple links to recommended reading. Once you’ve completed the course, you WILL have a thorough understanding of the professional blogging landscape, not to mention will have a clear path laid out for what you need to do take your blog from a hobby to a career.
