If you’re a regular reader of Epicure & Culture, you know I’m currently going for my Sommelier Certification. One of my favorite resources for studying is Wine Folly, an amazing blog that makes learning about wine fun and unpretentious. Madeline, the brainchild behind the site, created the snazzy infographic below to visually show readers what works well together when it comes to food and wine pairing.

I also wanted to offer some suggestions for specific wines I think would work well in the examples provided — all budget-friendly, ranging from about $10-$15 — some of which include:

    • Cured Meat: Chateau Fantin Grand Vin de Bordeaux
    • Red Meat: Robert Mondavi Private Selection Cabernet Sauvignon
    • White Meat: d’Arenberg The Custodian Grenache, McLaren Vale, Australia
    • Soft Cheese: Graff Riesling, Qualitatswein, Mosel
    • Hard Cheese: Columbia Crest Grand Estates Chardonnay
    • Fish: Mionetto Prosecco DOC Treviso Brut
    • Dessert:Petit Guiraud, Sauternes
